The Bon Accord Care Enablement Team attended 12 different Sheltered Housing complexes throughout September and October, with the aim of sharing information with tenants on services available across the city to support Healthy and Active Ageing, and aids to support independence 💜
We were joined at the Roadshows by partners from North East Sensory Services and Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership Wellbeing Team and the Community Adult Assessment and Rehabilitation Service/ NHS Grampian
Service users engaged in discussions with the teams about Telecare equipment, Activity of Daily Living Aids, Falls Management and Prevention, Aids to support sensory deficits and small adaptations.
Over the 12 roadshows, we engaged with 104 tenants in total, who expressed specific interest in small aids and engaging with the various active lifestyle programs – the biggest barriers fed back by tenants related to transport to available classes and services – which we are aware has been a consistent barrier. Therefore, we will be working to look at options for transport that can be shared with the tenants.
Overall, the roadshows were very well received, and we will be looking to run further roadshows in the spring. Thank you to our partner organisations and everyone who attended! 👏
