This week has been national 'I Will Week', which focuses on under 24s who volunteer. One of our volunteers, Ross Sibbald, has taken the time to tell us about his experiences.
"I've been taking part in volunteering with Bon Accord Care for a couple of months now. I decided to volunteer as a way of gaining more experience and diversifying my knowledge and skills in various health care environments. Beyond this, I saw it as a great opportunity to provide support to people receiving less social interaction because of the COVID-19 pandemic. My main role is to deliver lunches to the service users and social visits; however, I can also find myself accompanying a service user to the shops so there's lots of variety!
I most enjoy the social visits where I get to learn more about the service user and have a laugh with them. Volunteering has been a great way of furthering my learning in healthcare settings, whilst giving back some of my time to the local community."
We very much appreciate the efforts of all our volunteers and are keen to recruit more. If you feel you could spend some time doing similarly to Ross, please get in touch with Julie Suttar via firstname.lastname@example.org
